HomeWhat's a Cosmicrat?Oct 28, 2007

There are two definitions.
[1] I am the Cosmic Rat.
[2] A COSMICRAT is a member of the cosmicratic movement. Cosmicracy is a social and political philosophy which seeks to eliminate all divisive labels that we place on ourselves and one another. We should not think of ourselves as citizens of a state or a nation, or even our planet, but of the universe; the cosmos.

Why not of the Earth? Human beings may live elsewhere some day. We may even meet intelligent beings from elsewhere. We may as well start preparing now.

The ideal is a world where borders between countries mean no more than county lines or city limits do today. True, we have a long way to go to reach that ideal, but if we don't imagine it, think about it, and work toward it, we'll never get there.

We need to stop thinking locally. People from one place, of one color, one sex, one sexual orientation, one religious belief or nonbelief, are inherently no better or worse than any other. No one is any more or less deserving of a share of a planet's resources

No matter how democratic our system of government, if we as voters do not have a firm vision of the world we want to live in, we will continue to be manipulated into allowing wars and divisive policies. Though we now have a President who seeks peace and justice, those who seek only personal power and wealth, who encourage us to fear and hate other human beings, never stop trying to regain power.

The yellow rose ( oh, I intended to post it) is for you, Michael.
Happy birthday.
The period of our existence from birth till death is actually very small, it just seems like it's very long.

with 10 years coming up..i wonder how many people will see it the way it is..
thank you for this its inspiring

AN AMERICAN ANTHEM FOR OUR TIMES

I say, did you see
On that September morn
When the planes turned to fire
And the towers were falling?

Yet united we stood
For all that was good
With the world on our side
Against wanton destroyers.

We wanted revenge
To avenge would be just
For thousands of lives
Lost in fire, smoke and dust.

But say, can you see,
When it's vengance we're seeking
Seeds of violence are sown,
War and death's what we're reaping?

And the leader we chose
Used the fear that we felt,
To make us less free
And to seek his own wealth.

It was justice we wanted
Not torture and shame;
Not the death of so many
Who were never to blame.

'Tis we here at home, not soldiers abroad,
Must stand up for peace, and liberty save.
Defeat tyrants at home, then we will remain
The land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Thanksgiving is a feast for many memories overflying, even though the sky is grey and endlessly snowing, the holiday brings the golden rays of summer to the heart, instilling an inner warmth that makes the cold depart, and I am wishing for many blessings of the harvest for you , and sending my thanks for all the special things you do the whole year through .
HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY.

Are you any relation to Blackrat, Cosmicrat? Is growing a beard and calling yourself a Rat, like a special dress code?.....lol.....In any event, it's always a pleasure conversing with you. You are pretty mild mannered, and by no means an "asshole". But it could be worse, you could be a Socialist....LMFAO:) (just joking my friend:) Cheers

You're how old? Are you still allowed to drink beer? :)
cosmicrat wrote on Sep 8, '10
Thank you for that greeting, and, definitely, if you're flying by here, parachute in for a beer. Maybe even 2 or 3, as we sort out the state of the world.
Meanwhile, this seems to be my theme song of the day:

Happy Birthday Grandad Rat :)

I raise my glass to your rodentesque independent cyber-persona, and to your contribution of time and effort which have made our shared venture as good as it is. Only a small handful really make that place tick, and you're one of them. Be good to get over there and have a beer sometime. Perhaps en route to Yucatan, at the end of the world...

Enjoy your day!

I see a familiar phrase: "Weakness invites aggression". All too familiar. If the other side is a predator, perhaps that is true.
But what is weakness? Is it merely the failure to be aggressive? We know for sure that aggression invites aggression in endless cycles. Is weakness the failure to hate?

"Clash of civilizations" sounds dramatic, but I think it's a little more accurate to call it a clash of cultures. Even then, the clash is not really over the differences between lifestyles and beliefs-- it is about interests, land, and resources. True, the cultural differences add fuel. They make it easier for each side to label and hate the other.

Peace would require a lot of hard work. Continuing the violence, destruction, hate, and fear would no doubt be easier. More practicable? Depends on how you look at it, I suppose.
maryamislam wrote on Jan 19, '10
There is always that good old human nature which tends to make the perfect system go wrong even after it's application. At a cosmic level, the consequences wouldn't be negligible. You and I might even choose to forget all differences, but at the moment, there's nothing to indicate that it's ever going to raise the world to the same level. And we have already witnessed the futility of organizations like the UNO.

No, I don't have a better system in mind either. That is, unless the whole world decides to adopt the same ideology:P
By the way, why only 'rats'? Or is it just your personal preference?
maryamislam wrote on Jan 19, '10
Your point about thinking beyond retribution and revenge is indeed benevolent and I can see it visible in your cosmicrat idea, but there is much I need to wrap my head around yet. You are a man of the future:)

To 'stop keeping score' can hardly result in a 'win' when a clash of civilizations has occurred with such force as it never has before. Without retribution or a fear of retribution at an equal level, weakness invites aggression. A grievance can hardly be petty when it is between two rivaling ideologies (perhaps more), and even the uniting of borders is hardly likely to eliminate it.That would only result in the oppression of one. You know how that one ends. It's not that I oppose your idea---it would be wonderful indeed if it could be applied. It's just that I doubt it's practicability.
maryamislam wrote on Jan 18, '10
Pleased to view your site once again. I hope you will enjoy a very happy new year!

You always have such great pictures, no matter what the subject. It's amazing.

I, too, am pleased about all the aid offered and sent where it is so desperately needed, and at the same time saddened that sometimes even our best efforts are unable to prevent a great deal of suffering and loss of life.
